Subject: Evacuation information from Bill Wert

I will be at a meeting at 2 PM today with the County Emergency Preparedness

office with all of the barrier island mayor's. At that time we will know

better Ophelia's track and potential landfall location. The County has

tentatively suggested a voluntary evacuation of the barrier islands and the low areas

east of 17. They also tentatively suggested a mandatory evacuation of those

same areas starting at 6 AM tomorrow. I will post an update after the 2 PM

meeting, probably around 4 PM. Until then I would make plans for supplies you

might need, and stand by.

The local news channels will cover the meeting and have updates even before

I can.

The Town's website went down last night and we are working to have it back

within an hour.

The Community Association has offered their website and bulk email list for

emergency dissemination of information if needed. Of course, the Town will

use it's code red system also when needed.

I will also keep Kelly Bragg, webmaster of The Welcome to Kiawah site up to

speed.

Bill Wert

Mayor
