Fire Department News:

Seabrook: The ladder truck currently at Station 4 will be sent to Seabrook Island, Station 2, to replace a 25 year old ladder there that is no longer in service.  Station 2 will be torn down shortly and replaced with a brand new facility at the current site adjacent to the water tower.  The Department will be operation out of the Seabrook Island Utility facility until the new building is completed, hopefully in about seven months.

Chisolm Road: Also, the new Station 7, which will be located on Chisolm Road on Johns Island, across from Gift Plantation, is nearing the final paperwork phases for site design and preparation.  We hope to put it out for bids by the end of summer or early fall.

Congratulations are in order for Fire Chief Karl Ristow.  After four years of classes, tests, research and papers, he recently received the status of "Executive Fire Officer" from the National Fire Academy in Emmettsburg, MD.  His diploma was presnted to him at the regular July meeting of the St. Johns Fire District Commission on July 11, 2005.
