Kiawah resort's long-serving HR director also leaving
The top manager of one of the most luxurious hotels on the South Carolina
coast is stepping down.
Vijay Singh, general manager of the oceanfront Sanctuary on Kiawah Island,
is leaving to pursue other, unspecified opportunities, said Roger Warren,
president of Kiawah Island Golf Resort.
Singh, who previously was with Ritz-Carlton for 13 years, started as food
and beverage manager at The Sanctuary in 2003. He replaced Vikram Sood as
general manager in 2006.
Also stepping down at the resort is longtime executive Theresa Silo, human
resource director. She also is leaving to pursuing other opportunities. Silo
has been with the property for more than 13 years, resort officials said.
"Both Singh and Silo have helped the Kiawah Island Golf Resort to attain the
reputation as one of the great golf resorts in the world," Warren said in
statement Tuesday. "The experience each has gained at Kiawah will serve them
well as they advance to the next stage of what are already very successful
careers. We wish them all the best."
An internal search among resort staff members is currently underway to
replace the two executives, Warren added.
The 255-room Sanctuary is rated a Forbes Five-Star property in the lodging
and spa categories. It also has a Five-Diamond rating from the AAA travel
club for lodging. The $125 million hotel opened in 2004.
The Sanctuary and resort next summer will play host to the 2012 PGA
Championship, one of professional golf's four annual major tournaments. The
event will take place at The Ocean Course.
