The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island Golf Resort came in at No. 26 in Golf
Digest's biennial rankings of America's 100 Greatest Golf Courses that was
released Monday, one spot down from the 2009 rankings.
Two other South Carolina courses made the top 100, with Sage Valley in
Graniteville climbing six spots to No. 81 and Harbour Town on Hilton Head
Island dropping 25 spots, into a tie for No. 100 with Ocean Forest in Sea
Island, Ga.
Augusta National remained No. 1.
The magazine also named the 100 Greatest Public Courses, with Pebble Beach
(Calif.) heading the list and the Ocean Course coming in at No. 4.
Other South Carolina public courses, with their 2009 Golf Digest rankings in
parentheses, were: No. 21 Harbour Town (13); No. 22 May River in Bluffton
(22); No. 46 The Dunes Club in Myrtle Beach (38); No. 88 Grande Dunes Resort
in Myrtle Beach (77); and No. 94 Tidewater in North Myrtle Beach (41).
