Twelve S.C. golf communities rank in publication's top 100

Four South Carolina communities made the top 25 and three were among the top seven in Travel + Leisure Golf magazine's listing of "America's Top 100 Golf Communities." Twelve South Carolina communities made the overall rankings, which appear in the magazine's January-February issue.

Palmetto Bluff in Bluffton was No. 3, Kiawah Island was No. 5 and The Cliffs Communities headquartered in Travelers Rest was No. 7 in a listing where the top 25 were ranked. Spring Island at Okatie was No 23 on the list, which was headed by Sea Island in Georgia.

Also making the list, in alphabetical order, were: Belfair, Bluffton; Berkeley Hall, Bluffton; Colleton River, Bluffton; Daniel Island, Charleston; Long Cove, Hilton Head; Oldfield, Okatie; The Reserve at Lake Keowee, Sunset; and Seabrook Island.

Kiawah golf shop honors
Kiawah Island Golf Resort landed two of its golf shops in Golfworld magazine's 100 Best Golf Shops for 2008. The listings appear in the Jan. 18 issue of the publication.

The Kiawah Golf Shop at The Sanctuary made the off-course list, while the Ocean Course shop was listed in the resort rankings. Golfworld listing is done alphabetically.

Upcoming
The Kiawah-Seabrook Exchange Club's Calling All Angels golf tournament, to benefit elementary schools on Johns Island, will be played Feb. 28 at Kiawah Island Golf Resort's Osprey Point Golf Course.
