Tom Bewley
NEW POSITION: Named director of sales and marketing for Kiawah Island Resorts.
GOALS: To elevate Kiawah's standing as an international golf destination and generate business for the resort's new luxury hotel, The Sanctuary at Kia- wah Island, which opens in March 2004.
BIGGEST LESSON LEARNED: Always place one more phone call before leaving the office. Speaking to people and understanding them will pay off when you least expect it.
BIGGEST CHALLENGE: Educating travelers and the Charleston community about The Sanctuary, and the level of service and amenities it will offer.
PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND: Bewley graduated from the University of New Hampshire. He joined Kiawah from Wyndam Hotels and Resorts International, where he was vice president of resort sales and responsible for the sales effort of 22 resorts, including The Boulders in Arizona. Bewley was previously director of sales and marketing at both The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin in Orlando and Sheraton's On Harbor Island in San Diego.
PERSONAL: Wife, Becci; two sons, Tyler and Dustin.
PLAYTIME: Playing golf and spending time with family.
AGE: 47.
