A Message from Norm Norton, Kiawah Island Natural Habitat Conservancy Chairman

On behalf of the Kiawah Island Natural Habitat Conservancy, we are pleased to announce the success of the resort overnight guest program.  The program, which began in 2002 as a pilot program with Kiawah Island Golf Resort, under the direction of Prem Devadas, provides island guests with the opportunity to partner with the Conservancy’s land preservation program by choosing to donate two dollars per reservation night to the Conservancy.  The program is optional for resort guests; however, the number of guests choosing not to participate is minimal.  This year the opportunity to participate in the program has been extended to island guests that rent through most of the Kiawah Island rental agencies.

The money received by the Conservancy from the overnight guest program is dedicated to land preservation on Kiawah and its immediate environs.  These dollars support a major objective of the Conservancy’s mission for land preservation.  We are delighted that the opportunity to partner with the Resort, Great Beach Vacations, Pam Harrington Exclusives, Beachwalker Rentals, and the island guests, who rent through them, has presented itself.  All of us share the goal of preserving our native fauna and flora on our unique island.

Due to the initial leadership and vision of Prem Devadas of the Kiawah Island Golf Resort, and the participation of Great Beach Vacations, Pam Harrington Exclusives, Beachwalker Rentals, a successful program has been initiated that gives island guests the opportunity to participate in our land preservation program.  It also provides the opportunity for the Conservancy to form business partners with Kiawah Island’s major rental agencies and the islands guests that they serve.

 Norm Norton
