KIAWAH ISLAND -

An electrical repairman was severely burned when he touched a high-voltage line Thursday night, authorities said.
The accident happened about 9:30 p.m. near Eugenia Avenue and Surfwatch Drive, said Capt. Dana Valentine, spokeswoman for the Charleston County Sheriff's Office.
The injured man was not identified but is an employee with Berkeley Electric Cooperative, which was repairing equipment that caused a power outage in the area, Valentine said.
The man was airlifted to Medical University Hospital in Charleston. His injuries were considered "very serious," Valentine said.
Late Thursday, sheriff's deputies had not pieced together the events leading up to the accident, Valentine said.
Man indicted in death of Myrtle Beach officer
CONWAY - A man accused of shooting a Myrtle Beach police officer has been indicted for murder by a Horry County grand jury, authorities said.
Luzenski Allen Cottrell, 25, was also indicted on charges of assault with intent to kill, resisting arrest with a deadly weapon and grand larceny, prosecutor J. Gregory Hembree said.
Cottrell's girlfriend, Amber Alicia Counts, has been indicted for charges of accessory to a felony and grand larceny, authorities said.
"The loss of Officer McGarry was needless and brutal. My office is eager to bring those responsible to their full measure of justice," said Hembree.
Cottrell has been charged in the Dec. 29 killing of officer Joe McGarry, 28.
Cottrell got in a gunfight with another officer after shooting McGarry and sped off with Counts, police said.
McGarry had arrested Cottrell that summer on drug charges, authorities said.
Cottrell since has been charged in the shooting of Richard Hartman, whose body was found in an isolated area on Nov. 23, authorities said.
3 charged in beating death of Pamplico man
FLORENCE - Three men have been charged in the beating death of a 19-year-old Pamplico man whose body was found in 3 feet of water under a bridge.
Authorities found James Raymon Miller's body early Wednesday morning, and all three suspects were in custody hours later.
An autopsy showed Miller suffered a fractured skull and brain injuries, Coroner M.G. "Bubba" Matthews said.
A motive has not been determined, but the victim and suspects knew each other, Florence County Sheriff's Investigator Kenney Boone said.
Matthews didn't give a time of death but said he thinks Miller died before he was thrown into the water.
Miller was last seen by his mother on New Year's Eve when he left his home to go to a party.
The mother called police Sunday because she hadn't heard from him since.
Anthony Ray Driggers, 17, of Effingham; Christopher Lane, 19, of Timmonsville; and Matthew Lance Singletary, 19, Effingham, are each charged with murder and kidnapping.
Upstate counties hit by ice storm to get aid
COLUMBIA - Six Upstate counties affected by an ice storm last month will receive federal aid after President Bush declared South Carolina a disaster area, the White House says.
Funding is available for Cherokee, Greenville, Laurens, Spartanburg, Union and York counties for debris removal, emergency services and repair or replacement of damaged public property from Dec. 4-6.
Federal Emergency Management Agency Director Joe Allbaugh said Wednesday that state and local governments are eligible for federal funding to pay 75 percent of the estimated costs.
Gov. Jim Hodges' office said earlier this month that the estimated damage of the ice storm was about $8 million.
The Dec. 4 storm coated the Upstate in ice, snapping tree limbs onto power lines and damaging transformers.
