Kiawah is back to being its normal sunny self this morning. Yea!
Why is it that it doesn't seem quite so cold when the sun is shining?

We will be back to the cooler temperatures, so snuggle up with a good book and try to stay warm!
Sunday should bring slightly warmer
temperatures in the low fifties during the day and near forty during the
night.
January 27, 2005
More technical problems this
morning with the web site. Apparently the hosting server is outside enjoying
this lovely weather too. Kiawah is beautiful again today, with more sunshine and
warm temperatures. It certainly seems that today will be another banner day on
Kiawah!

It is a lovely morning on Kiawah. Once more Mother Nature provides a
brief respite from winter, with the temperature near sixty this afternoon.
Looks like a fabulous day to get outside and play!
Did you know? Tonight is the Full Wolf Moon. The
Farmer's Almanac provides this explanation for the name: "Amid the
cold and deep snows of midwinter, the wolf packs howled hungrily outside
Indian villages. Thus, the name for January's full Moon. Sometimes it was
also referred to as the Old Moon, or the Moon After Yule. Some called it
the Full Snow Moon, but most tribes applied that name to the next Moon."
It is 39 degrees at 9:20

It is slightly warmer this morning than it has been this week.
Still, it is definitely winter on Kiawah now. When it is cold out
like this, the pelicans certainly seem
to spend a lot of time inside - the island! They are floating around by
the dozens on the various lagoons and ponds. Guess the water at the beach
is too cold for them too!

Not quite as cold outside this morning as yesterday, but almost!

sunshine and fifty degree temperatures. If you bundle up you might
be able to get in a nice bike ride. But then again, maybe you are a
burrower when it is cold outside? Either way, have a pleasant day!
Eagle News: In case you
did not get a chance to read yesterday's eagle update ... for the past week, one or both of
the eagles have been spotted bringing fish to the nest. Could they
be feeding a little one?

laughing now! And you can come down and fetch this nasty weather any
time!

Island News: The intersection at the Kiawah
Island Parkway and Betsy Kerrison Parkway will be affected by utility work
until January 14, 2005. Expect lane closures and slow moving traffic. No
construction work will begin until after 9:00 a.m. each morning. Also, the
Kiawah entrance median here will be removed, including the large Kiawah
Island sign, lighting and plantings. Without a lighted entrance sign,
members may have difficulty knowing where to turn left onto the Kiawah
Island Parkway from Betsy Kerrison. Please drive with caution. Questions?

There is a thick blanket of fog covering Kiawah this morning. It is warm,
but overcast, with just a slight hint of a chill in the air.
The annual
American robin migration has apparently begun. Kiawah seems
to be a perennial stopover, with the robins are enjoying the berries on
the palm trees. If you want a treat, fill some shallow bowls with
water and set them on your deck. The saucers from plants work well
for this. You will soon be visited by dozens of robins. One caveat:
you might want to put the bowls in a place that you can clean easily, as
robins + berries = a bit of a mess!
It is 53 degrees at 9:10 this morning. Today's
temperature should be in the upper sixties once again. The low
tonight is supposed to be fifty.
