Kiawah is partly sunny this morning. After today we should definitely see plenty of sunshine and warm temperatures. Are you ready for the week-end?

Turtle News: The Kiawah Island Turtle Patrol reports that we have 10 loggerhead nests on our beach.  That is a pretty slow start for our turtle mamas, so if you get out to the beach sometime soon, cheer them on, will you please?

Painted Buntings Kathy Heikes says that her bird feeders are often visited by painted buntings.  These birds are one of Kiawah's signature species, and folks are thrilled when they spot one.  Lucky Kathy, she gets to see them nearly every day!

Week-end Weather: It is 81 degrees at 9:05 Friday morning. No repeat of the weather pattern today, as things heat up quite a bit!  Friday's high should be in the mid-eighties, lows near seventy, and a 20% chance of rain for both.  No rain is currently predicted for Saturday, and the high is supposed to be in the mid-eighties.  Lows should be in the mid-sixties.  Last but not least, highs on Sunday ought to be in the mid-eighties, with lows should be in the upper sixties.

Kiawah is mostly cloudy this morning. It is quite humid and muggy, with low hanging clouds blanketing the sky. There is not a spec of sunshine to be seen right now. It will be a welcome relief when (if?) the rain begins.

Have you seen people riding around in golf carts WITHOUT clubs? Do they stop frequently, strolling into backyards? If you have seen folks like these, you have witnessed Kiawah's Bird House Team in action! The team is in full gear now, checking bird houses on Kiawah's golf courses, and tracking the birds and their young. Be sure to wave hello the next time you see them!

Weather: It is 74 degrees at 9:00 this morning. More repetition on the weather front today: highs in the upper seventies, lows in the upper sixties.  But today we have only a 20% chance of rain for both.

It is sunny and warm on Kiawah this morning. This morning dawned warm and sunny, and the island is lovely! If you look around you will see magnolias, mimosas, bottlebrush bushes, oleanders, and lantanas. Explosions of color are scattered across the landscape. Why not take a walk or ride and see what you can find?

It seems like eons since Kiawah awoke to sunshine, but here we are!  We head into Memorial Day week-end with sunbeams on our faces. Is there any doubt that island bike paths and the beach will be filled with happy folks?

Peekin' Bobcat Marge Connelly says, "We had finished taking pictures of some night herons in Ibis pond and were just leaving when this bobcat started to come out of the shrubs beside the pond. We all stopped and watched each other for a few minutes before moving on. What great luck to get such a good look at such a beautiful animal."
