Kiawah is sunny and just a wee bit cooler this morning. More thunderstorms late yesterday afternoon, but thankfully nothing like Saturday evening. Kiawah should be well within its "quota" for rain this month! This morning dawned bright and beautiful, with sunshine all around. The folks who checked in Saturday afternoon must be relieved - who wants to spend a vacation at the beach in the rain?

Weather: It is 79 degrees at 9:05 this morning. It will be pretty warm out there today, so stay cool! Today's high should be in the low nineties, lows tonight in the mid-seventies.

Today's Kiawah Critter Count  Dozens of brown pelicans,  one five-lined skink, one raccoon, two female white-tailed deer, and dozens of snowy egrets on Sea Marsh Drive.

Kiawah is warm and covered in sunshine this morning. We had brief showers earlier this morning, but they seemed to have passed us by now.

Lots of folks are out fishing these days - and admittedly this webmaster is not a fish expert. So what is it that everyone is after for their dinner table? Click here and tell us what you have caught recently! We will post replies next week.

Turtle News: The Kiawah Island Turtle Patrol reports that as of this morning we have 70 nests on our beach!  This webmaster was on nesting patrol this morning, and the SIX nests we found are the cause of the tardiness in getting the site updated this morning.  Thank you for sticking with us!

Rise and Shine! Linda Sample sent in this lovely photo on a Kiawah sunrise.

Week-end Weather: It is 84 degrees at 11:00 Friday morning. Not much of a chance of rain this week-end, so it should be a terrific time to get outside and play!  Highs Friday in the upper eighties, lows in the mid-seventies, both with a 20% chance of rain. Kiawah is mostly sunny this morning, but quite damp. We were pelted with thunderstorms for most of the night, complete with lightning and booming thunder.  At least Mother Nature didn't allow any rain during the day though!

Island News: Kiawah's new Recycling Centers have been up and running for several weeks now and the amounts of recycling materials being collected are very impressive. Just a quick reminder that the front section is for co-mingled products; aluminum, plastic and glass, the rear section is for paper products. The free standing container is for cardboard only. PLEASE break down cardboard boxes before placing them in the container. Remember every piece of material you recycled is one that doesn't end up in our county landfill!
