Memorial Day

Kiawah is mostly sunny this morning. The island cannot seem to
decide what it should "wear" this morning - a soft gray coat, or a
sun-dappled one. Either way, it is another lovely day on Kiawah!
Weather: It is 80 degrees at 9:05 this morning.
Looks like we will have a gorgeous Memorial Day week-end! Highs in the
mid- eighties today, lows in the low seventies. There is a 50%
chance of rain today & tonight.

May 28, 2010 Week-end Edition
Kiawah is sunny and beautiful this morning. We head into the
long week-end with sunshine and cool ocean breezes. There are tons
of activities going on around the island this week-end, from
concerts to kayak trips, kite-flying to bicycling, and of course
there is always the beach! What will you be doing this
week-end?
Some folks will be traveling to the island or home
for the long weekend, so
please be careful on the roads.
Security Guards at Osprey Point Osprey Point Golf Course is a
terrific place to spot alligators sunning on the banks of the pond
near the clubhouse.
Week-end Weather: It is 79 degrees at 9:00 Friday morning.
Looks like we will have a gorgeous Memorial Day week-end! Highs Friday
should be in the
mid-eighties, with lows near seventy. Saturday is supposed to bring
us highs in the low eighties, lows in the upper sixties, and a 20%
chance of showers. The 20% chance of rain lasts through
Sunday, with highs in the low eighties and lows in the upper
sixties.

It is nice and sunny on
Kiawah this morning. After a few days of clouds, the sunshine
is quite welcome! We approach Memorial Day week-end with sunny
skies and warm breezes. Does it get any better than this?
Weather: It is 79 degrees at 9:00 this morning. Warm
temperatures are back! Highs today are supposed to be in the
mid-eighties, with lows near seventy.

Kiawah is partly cloudy this morning, but the rain has stopped, at
least for the moment. We did not receive many April showers,
so perhaps the rain of the past few days is Mother Nature's way of
making up for it. Does that mean May showers bring June
flowers?
Weather: It is 70 degrees at 9:00
this morning. There is a high risk for rip currents again today, so please
be careful if you are swimming or boating! The high should be
near eighty today, with a 50% chance of rain. Lows tonight in the upper sixties
with a 30% chance of rain.

It is cloudy on
Kiawah this morning, though there is no rain at present. There are
showers in the area, with a slight chance that they will head
our way.
Have you seen the caterpillars around the island recently? Tiny
green ones, three or four different kinds of fuzzy ones... all
moving with that curious caterpillar slide-walk-slink that they use.
Thus far the plants do not seem to be suffering any ill effects. But
watch your herbs, just in case!

Kiawah is overcast this morning, with brief drizzles here and there.
It seems that last night's rain may have provided a brief respite
from our heat wave! The temperature is cooler this morning, and it
is not supposed to be nearly as warm as the past week.
Weather: It is 72 degrees at 9:00
this morning. Be ready for showers, especially later this afternoon. Highs
near eighty, lows in the upper sixties. There is a 70% chance of rain
both today and tonight.

It is gorgeous on Kiawah this morning. The sky is brilliant blue, the sun is shining,
and a gentle breeze is stirring the leaves and Spanish moss.
With a high in the low eighties, today should be a fabulous day to
get outside and play!

Friday morning. While there is a slight chance of rain predicted
over the week-end, it sure looks like lots and lots of sunshine! Highs
Friday in the low eighties, lows in the mid-sixties with a 20%
chance of rain. Highs should be in the mid-eighties Saturday, also
with a 20% chance of showers. Lows Saturday night in the upper
sixties. Sunday looks like a repeat: highs in the mid-eighties
with a 20% chance of rain, lows in the upper sixties.

balmy temperatures during the day and night. The weather is just

Kiawah is partly cloudy this morning. It looks like we will have
another beautiful day on Kiawah. There is 83% humidity hanging
in the air this morning, making it much muggier than normal for this
time of year. Still, it is a very nice day to "go outside and play"!
So drag out your walking shoes, bike, or whatever, and have some
fun!

It is a bit overcast on Kiawah this morning. We have had so many sunny days in a row
that it almost seems disappointing that we will see rain. But
we certainly could use some. What will you do if it rains
today?
Turtle News: The first nest for Kiawah was laid Saturday, May 15th. Turtle season has now
officially begun!
Weather: It is 77 degrees at 9:00 this morning. Rain could be headed our way today. Highs
in the low eighties today, lows in the upper sixties tonight.

May 14, 2010 Week-end Edition
Kiawah is fabulous and sunny again this morning. Mother Nature is
treating us to a magnificent morning on the island. The sun is
shining, there is a gentle cool breeze, and the air is soft and
warm. The clouds overhead drift slowly past as the breeze pulls them
along.
Have you seen people riding around in golf carts WITHOUT clubs? Do
they stop frequently, strolling into backyards? If you have seen
folks like these, you have witnessed Kiawah's Bird House Team in
action! The team is in full gear now, checking bird houses on
Kiawah's golf courses, and tracking the birds and their young. Be
sure to wave hello the next time you see them!

yesterday morning.

Bottle-nosed Dolphin Going kayaking in the Kiawah River is
often a great way to spot dolphins. Be sure to watch the tides
though, as paddling against the tide is no fun!

It is sunny and already warm on Kiawah this morning. The island is lovely, with a rainbow of flowers
on display. If you look around you will see magnolias, mimosas,
bottlebrush bushes, oleanders, and lantanas. Explosions of color are
scattered across the landscape. Why not take a walk or ride and see
what you can find?

Turtle News: The Turtle Truck has rolled for three days
now, but still no nests. We cannot tell why, but sadly
there was a leatherback sea turtle washed up on the beach this
morning.

The magnolia blossoms are ready to burst open to welcome the warmth
of the May sunshine. There are even a few oleander blooms valiantly

It is sunny and gorgeous on Kiawah this morning. We are still in the midst of an odd heat wave,
and the humidity is very high for this time of year. But the fauna
is delightful and green and the critters are happy and frolicking,
so all must be right with Kiawah!

Turtle News: Turtle season begins this week-end, with
the first nesting patrol headed out on Mother's Day. Bring on
the baby turtles!

Kiawah is overcast this morning, with fog a little ways inland. It
is a bit gray and dreary this morning, with humidity very much in
evidence. Ceiling fans all over the island will get turned to high
and the windows thrown open. Few enough days remain before summer
truly arrives and the air conditioner is a must! Is your air
conditioner already running?

in for good measure. The rain is supposed to last through the
morning, which should give us a thorough soaking. After the

It is partly sunny on Kiawah this morning. Be on the lookout for more clouds though,
as there is a chance of thundershowers later this afternoon.
The handsome cardinal sitting outside the window is singing at
the top of his lungs. He must be trying to impress his lady, because
he has been at it for quite a while! Can you hear any birdsong where
you are right now?
