June 30, 2010

It is partly sunny on Kiawah this morning. The island was finally on the receiving end of some showers last night. The lightning seemed very close, especially around midnight. Flashes of lightning seemed to ignite the night sky, and thunder rumbled ominously, nearly on the heels of each flash of light. The lightning was so bright that it seemed nearly daylight at times.  Thankfully, this morning we are feeling the benefit of the storm, with temperatures far cooler than recent mornings.

Weather: It is 78 degrees at 9:00 this morning. Last night's rain certainly cooled things off a bit, didn't they? Today's high should be near ninety, tonight's low is supposed to be in the mid- seventies. There is a 60% chance of rain both today & tonight.

The sun is valiantly trying to poke through the clouds, but it certainly looks like rain. In other words, it is a typical June day on Kiawah! It is a coin flip whether or not we will see showers today, but the island could certainly use some!

Weather: It is 81 degrees at 9:00 this morning. Once again the heat index is supposed to be 106. Highs in the low nineties today, lows in the upper seventies tonight. There is a 50% chance of rain both today & tonight.
