April
28, 2006 Week-end Edition
Kiawah is back to sunshine and cool breezes
this morning. After our recent gloomy rain, today is a wonderful reward!
The sun in shining brightly - even the birds seem happy about it. Island
visitors would probably agree with them! The magnolia blossoms are ready to burst open to
welcome the warmth of the spring sunshine. There are even a few oleander
blooms valiantly trying to open. What spring flowers do you have where
you live?

We have more clouds on Kiawah this morning.
Yesterday was supposed to be drizzly all day long, but turned out to be a
lovely day. After a few brief showers in the morning, the remaining
rain stayed away until it was nearly dark. Could this really be
Camelot? In which case, the sun should be out shortly, and the rain
will stay away until this evening!
Don't Forget...
tomorrow is Document

the Town Hall beginning at 2:00 p.m. and get them shredded into oblivion!

Kiawah is cloudy this morning, but still warm
and pleasant. It looks like some April showers are in store for us today,
and we could use the rain! We haven't had much this month, and the
plants show it. Looks like a good day to read a book - what are you
reading these days?

It is already fairly warm on Kiawah this
morning, so we have yet another fabulous morning!
The sun is shining brightly and the birds are singing... LOUDLY! And
they have been doing so since sunrise! Isn't it fascinating that our
avian friends are just as affected by wonderful weather as we are?
Critters are settling into their spring
homes and habits...a raccoon has taken up residence in a large live oak. The past two years a momma raccoon has lived there and raised young.
Hopefully this is the same friendly raccoon! It was wonderful to
watch her teach her babies to climb the tree, observing them as they grew
up. What Kiawah critters have you spied lately?

Kiawah is sunny and warm this morning.
This nice warm weather begs for some outdoor time, and Kiawah awaits the
intrepid explorer! Here is a little known suggestion for any budding
Columbus' out there: why not investigate the Kiawah Swamp Garden? The Kiawah Swamp Garden is located on Turtle Beach
Lane (accessible by bicycle). It is a secluded wetland garden, where
you can usually see many alligators and turtles, as well as several
varieties of Kiawah's native plants. Can you locate it?
Island
News:

the alarm. Thanks to SJFD for their rapid and professional handling of
this false alarm."

an accurate description of this lovely weather.

just when you thought you were finished dealing with the oak tree debris
everywhere, the tags begin dropping.

Will you be able to get outside to play today?

seven large-framed "sub-units" (construction
vehicles) are transported through the roundabout and

We have more sunshine and warm breezes on
Kiawah this morning. The azaleas are out in full force.
Everywhere you look it seems that Kiawah is showing off its colors -
fuchsia, white, red, and purple azaleas, the delicate pink of a dogwood,
pale lavender wisteria hanging from branches, the soft yellow of Carolina
Jessamine...flowers are spread far and wide across the landscape. Mother
Nature is putting on her best show!

It's bluebird time again! Those who have bird boxes on

Kiawah is mostly sunny this morning. It
is quite warm, and looks like a wonderful day to get outside and play.
The little raccoon living in the live oak on Marsh
Island Drive is awake this morning. She (?) is peering out the
"front door" of her chosen home - it is a small hole that she can use as
both a window and a door. Last year she had two babies there - will
she have some this year as well?
