March 30, 2007  Week-end Edition

Kiawah is partly sunny this morning, and much cooler than recent mornings.  But March didn't live up to its legend this year... "in like a lion, out like a lamb".  We didn't have the fierce winds that usually blow March into being, though we are having a fairly mild end.  Can you believe it is nearly April?

Last Chance... to make your reservations for the KICA Sunset Cruise!  Friday March 30th is the last day to reserve your spot for the April 12th cruise on the Island Breeze. Visit the KICA web site or call (843) 768-3875 for more information.

Week-end Weather: It is 57 degrees at 9:10 Friday morning. We have a much cooler week-end in store for us than our last.  Friday's high is supposed to be in the mid-sixties, lows in the mid-fifties. Saturday will be nearly identical, with highs in the mid-sixties, and a in the upper fifties.  Highs near seventy on Sunday, and lows in the low sixties.  There is a 20% chance of showers Sunday night.

Kiawah is magnificent and sunny this morning. Kiawah is mostly sunny this morning.  We have a wonderful spring day on the way - without the rain!

This is the time of year when our lovely live oaks become the scourge of Kiawah gardeners.  March's "lion" winds have scattered the dead leaves everywhere. And except for an hour or two when the yard looks nice, raking does not do much good! The leaves just seem to keep coming down.  On the other hand, the Bradford pear trees certainly look beautiful with their white blossoms bursting out all over.

Kiawah's Shore Birds Marilyn Blizard reminds us that giving space to our migrating shorebirds is extremely important.  Some are near death as they rest or feed here before a long flight.
