It is sunny but chilly on Kiawah this morning. The worst of the winds
seem to have gone, but it is still quite breezy, and there are
occasional gusts of high wind.
March's "lion" winds made a late showing over the week-end, as gusts
made their way across Kiawah. It all began Saturday afternoon,
with blasts of wind dropping leaves, branches, and palm fronds
everywhere. The island is a mess! It looks like a small tornado
or hurricane came through. Lots of yard clean-up to be done...

Kiawah is drenched in sunshine and
birdsong this morning. It is a bit cooler than yesterday
morning, and the day will be slightly cooler too.
Still, it is nice and warm, and Kiawah awaits the daring
explorer! Here is a little known suggestion for you budding Columbus'
out there: why not investigate the Kiawah Swamp Garden? The Kiawah
Swamp Garden is located on Turtle Beach Lane (accessible by bicycle).
It is a secluded wetland garden, where you can usually see many
alligators and turtles, as well as several varieties of Kiawah's
native plants. Can you locate it?
I see you... Kiawah's bobcat population is quite shy, but every
once in a while you may be lucky enough to spot one.

Passover... begins at sundown this evening. It is
the 8 day observance commemorating the freedom and exodus of the
Israelites (Jewish slaves) from Egypt during the reign of the Pharaoh
Ramses II.
A recipe for spring...
Take half a dozen robins, some bluebirds, at least one gallant
mockingbird to sing outside your door; a carpet of green velvet, with
patterned flowers gay; the graceful fonds of willows that swing and
dip and sway; some glowing green of maples, a bit of dogwood’s white,
the purple-pink of redbud from dawn-time’s glowing light; the rippling
of a brooklet, the splendor of the sky, the haunting scent of lilac,
some fleecy clouds on high; a breeze to whisper softly in your ear,
things that only you can hear.
And if you’ll stir them gently, and mold them in your heart, until the
sight and sound of them is of yourself a part, you’ll have the
sweetest springtime that ever you have known; though everyone may
share it, it still will be your own.
